Why so much HATE for the iPhone 8?

“The doorbell rang on the morning of 30th September 2017. The clock read 9:47 AM and my excitement knew no boundaries for I knew who was home”
Yes. it was the iPhone 8 Plus right at my doorstep. The delivery boy took my signature and handed over me the package in all its glory !
I quickly got a knife from the kitchen and sliced the package carton in half revealing the newest edition of iPhone in the country wrapped all around in bubble sheet. What a sight it was !
I had pre-ordered this device on 25th September 2017 and availed various discount offers that Flipkart had to offer

The phone is a piece of real beauty especially the new Gold color is the perfect mix of the earlier Gold and the Rose gold colors and it looks DROP DEAD GORGEOUS !
The camera is fantastic, as Apple cameras have always been, the new camera features are great, though it was not the clinching point to buy the phone, the clinching point was the price that i had to pay after exchanging my iPhone 6S Plus.
There used to be a time when Apple products were only thought to be bought by elite Indians but now the times have change. Thanks to Apple. After all, India is in the second wave of countries to get the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

While pre-ordering this device I and some of my colleagues were chilling together and so they asked me as to why I am ordering the iPhone 8, when the iPhone X is just around the corner?
I knew this question would certainly come up by someone or the other and I was ready with my answer. I told them:-
  • The iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus were based on the tried and tested design that Apple has been following since the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus which was way launched way back in 2014, that means this platform is pretty stable now. Whereas the iPhone X is new. Nobody knows how it would turn out, would the apps run stably on it? Will the new aspect ratio display black borders at the top and bottom? Will the battery life be good? These are few of the doubts that made me not wait for the iPhone X. I would probably go for the next year’s bezel-less model seeing the reviews of the iPhone X
  • I am accustomed with the Touch ID and we all know that Apple Touch ID is one of the market’s best Touch IDs in terms of precision and speed of unlocking. Whereas nothing can be said about the Face ID on the iPhone X as of now. From the early preview of the iPhone X on the launch day at Steve Job’s theater by various reviewers, I found the Face ID to be rather slow and gimmicky. Though my final verdict will be formed once the device comes to the market
The other question I got from another colleague, he asked
Why are you buying it from Flipkart when Amazon will deliver it a day before than Flipkart does?
He didn’t know what I had to face with Amazon in the past and that’s why he posed this question.
Actually few years ago I had purchased the iPhone 5 from Amazon. All was well on delivery. Package seemed well packed, the phone seemed new. But that was far from the truth. I checked it on the Apple’s site to see the warranty information and found that the phone was already active since 2 months. I was shocked to see this and quickly asked for return from Amazon, to which they reluctantly agreed and ordered the same phone from Flipkart which turned out completely fine and having full 365 days of warranty thus revoking my faith from Amazon, at least when Apple products are concerned.
Now, I leave the decision of whether you should buy it or not completely on my audience. But for me it was a truly worth buy purchase.
