The small-small Pleasures of Life..

There are many pleasures that one comes across in day to day life, I’ll summarize quite a few here. Hope you click with it.
  • Getting a text/call from your special someone when you are missing them. I am sure this is one pleasure almost everyone here would have experienced at least once in life.
  • Popping the bubble wrap. Believe me, once I ordered an item just to get the bubble wrap in the packaging, so that I can spend the day popping those bubbles.

  • Laughing with someone whose company you absolutely love.
  • Spending a day without intervention of technology. BELIEVE ME, I have done this and spent the day with my family, siblings. The feeling is absolutely unmatched.
  • Taking 5 more minutes of sleep after the morning alarm rings. I am sure everyone here would resonate with this.
  • The sigh of relief you take on lying down in the bed after a hectic day at work.
  • Light soreness in muscles a day after heavy workout giving the satisfaction of having trained hard.

Here, I would like to tell you some facts that you might not know about your brain.
  • Your brain always want to feel good about itself. Have you ever wondered why you are attracted to the people who laugh, make others laugh and are easy going? The answer is, your brain associates perception of good-feeling with those people and that’s why you may have observed that extroverts have the strongest friend circle.
  • Your brain hates repetitive sounds. Have you observed how agitated you feel on hearing the constant dripping of water drop at a constant interval from your kitchen faucet into the sink. I am sure you have. Have you wondered as to what causes this agitation? The reason is, your brain is lurking for new information all the time and the fixed sound of water droplet doesn’t provide your brain with this necessary stimulation.

  • Your brain loves beauty. I am sure all men out there know what I am talking about? Haha !
  • Your brain gets depress very easily and that’s why business of Liquor in the world is at its all time high with more and more people falling in the trap of getting respite from their current situation from alcohol abuse.
  • Your brain gets addicted extremely easily and this addiction is the sole reason, that people do drugs and smoke cigarettes despite clearly knowing that these will take their lives pretty soon.
  • Your brain loves intimacy, be it emotional or physical. Intimacy makes the brain feel re-assured that ‘I am important, people value me, love me.’

An accident that gave a lesson to all !

It was a calm and pleasant morning and I was on my way back to home after dropping my younger brother to school.
There is a park near my home immediately outside which, is a road, a busy road. This park is famous for producing some of the best players in various sports at District level.

In fact there is a saying in our area, it goes like this Bete ko Tendulkar banana hai to Mahatma Park me khelne ke liye bolo’ (Mahatma is the name of the park)

Anyway, so the game of football was going on in the park at around 7:45 AM, when I reached the road outside the park in my car. I was in a mood of ease and was listening to songs while driving when suddenly I witnessed a football coming at an exorbitantly high pace in my direction. I immediately smashed the brake pedal and brought the car to a complete halt in a matter of few milliseconds thus saving myself and saving my car from having a broken wind shield.

BUT, a lady driving her scooty parallel to me was not that lucky. The football hit her scooty with full force leading her to lose her balance and wreck her scooty on the road.
Everything and everyone came to a complete halt on hearing the sound of scooty crashing on the road. People ran to the rescue of the woman, I too sprang from my car and ran in her direction.
On reaching her we realized, that she had merely been saved from getting crushed under the heavy weight of her scooty.
Luckily, she was wearing a helmet and did not suffer any damage to her head, though, she got some bruises on her elbow and shoulder. But luckily, nothing serious.

When I looked towards the park in order to find who had hit that stupid football, to my surprise I found the park to be completely vacant. Every player had fled the spot.

This made me extremely angry and sad at the same time that instead of coming to rescue the woman, they all took the cowardly step of disappearing from the spot to avoid getting penalized. They didn’t for once felt remorse towards what massacre could have happened because of them.

Meanwhile, a lady who had stopped to help her brought a bandage and Betadine ointment from her car and applied them to the wounds of the fallen lady.
On being given the first aid and water, the fallen lady picked up her scooty and left for her destination leaving behind a lesson for all.

THE LESSON- Please avoid using 2 wheelers whenever you can. If you can’t afford a car/uber and riding a bike or a scooty is your only daily means of transport then please make sure, to invest in few of these very affordable security measures listed below before taking your bike/scooty out of your home.

Why do we buy what we buy?

Scientific fact- We buy to get away from boredom in life and not because of our needs.
Now, before you make me the center of your hatred, please bear with me for a few minutes and then you can decide my fate.
I would now request you to ponder upon the statements I am to make below and then answer honestly to yourself.
  • Are you really in need of that flashy latest mobile phone from your favorite mobile company, when your current phone performs well, if not better in all the tasks that you throw at it?
  • Are you really in need of that latest, mouth watering bezel less LED TV when your current LED TV streams the latest episode of Game of Thrones equally well?
  • Do you really care to buy that latest Hexa core/Octa core processor Laptop when your current one lets you create and edit Word/PDF files with little to no hesitation?

So, I hope you have answered the above questions in your mind.
Now, if you answered ‘YES’, to the above questions, then I would like to congratulate you, my friend on being a prudent spender though a lover of luxurious and costly items.
BUT, if your answer to at least two of the questions were ‘NO’, then, my friend you belong to the 97% category of the human population who buy what they buy to kill monotony, to kill routine, to kill depression.
You belong to the category that drives most of the sale of the companies like Apple Samsung, Sony, Lenovo. It’s because of us (97%) that these companies announce a million $ turnover at the end of every Financial year.
Now, please don’t get me wrong I no where want to discourage you from doing what gives pleasure to your heart and soul. In fact, I too belong to the above written 97% category. What I only want to state is, have you ever wondered how long does the honey-moon period of your purchases last? Probably a week, a fortnight or maximum, a month. But surely, not after that?
This happens with most of us, we buy what we can afford at the moment, the thought of getting satisfaction for a long term doesn’t cross our minds even once. BUT, we need to mend this. We need to start making purchases not only that we can afford, but the ones that gives us long time satisfaction

I can’t say about the rest two, but I have used the first one and yes it does make a difference !

Why so much HATE for the iPhone 8?

“The doorbell rang on the morning of 30th September 2017. The clock read 9:47 AM and my excitement knew no boundaries for I knew who was home”
Yes. it was the iPhone 8 Plus right at my doorstep. The delivery boy took my signature and handed over me the package in all its glory !
I quickly got a knife from the kitchen and sliced the package carton in half revealing the newest edition of iPhone in the country wrapped all around in bubble sheet. What a sight it was !
I had pre-ordered this device on 25th September 2017 and availed various discount offers that Flipkart had to offer

The phone is a piece of real beauty especially the new Gold color is the perfect mix of the earlier Gold and the Rose gold colors and it looks DROP DEAD GORGEOUS !
The camera is fantastic, as Apple cameras have always been, the new camera features are great, though it was not the clinching point to buy the phone, the clinching point was the price that i had to pay after exchanging my iPhone 6S Plus.
There used to be a time when Apple products were only thought to be bought by elite Indians but now the times have change. Thanks to Apple. After all, India is in the second wave of countries to get the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

While pre-ordering this device I and some of my colleagues were chilling together and so they asked me as to why I am ordering the iPhone 8, when the iPhone X is just around the corner?
I knew this question would certainly come up by someone or the other and I was ready with my answer. I told them:-
  • The iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus were based on the tried and tested design that Apple has been following since the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus which was way launched way back in 2014, that means this platform is pretty stable now. Whereas the iPhone X is new. Nobody knows how it would turn out, would the apps run stably on it? Will the new aspect ratio display black borders at the top and bottom? Will the battery life be good? These are few of the doubts that made me not wait for the iPhone X. I would probably go for the next year’s bezel-less model seeing the reviews of the iPhone X
  • I am accustomed with the Touch ID and we all know that Apple Touch ID is one of the market’s best Touch IDs in terms of precision and speed of unlocking. Whereas nothing can be said about the Face ID on the iPhone X as of now. From the early preview of the iPhone X on the launch day at Steve Job’s theater by various reviewers, I found the Face ID to be rather slow and gimmicky. Though my final verdict will be formed once the device comes to the market
The other question I got from another colleague, he asked
Why are you buying it from Flipkart when Amazon will deliver it a day before than Flipkart does?
He didn’t know what I had to face with Amazon in the past and that’s why he posed this question.
Actually few years ago I had purchased the iPhone 5 from Amazon. All was well on delivery. Package seemed well packed, the phone seemed new. But that was far from the truth. I checked it on the Apple’s site to see the warranty information and found that the phone was already active since 2 months. I was shocked to see this and quickly asked for return from Amazon, to which they reluctantly agreed and ordered the same phone from Flipkart which turned out completely fine and having full 365 days of warranty thus revoking my faith from Amazon, at least when Apple products are concerned.
Now, I leave the decision of whether you should buy it or not completely on my audience. But for me it was a truly worth buy purchase.
